Presenting the Sixteenth Annual ARC World Industry Forum

Transforming Industry through New Processes and Technologies

February 6-9, 2012 - Orlando, Florida

Asset Performance Management:  Empowering Executives with Operational and Maintenance Intelligence

In today’s increasingly competitive landscape, owner/operators are faced with a number of complex challenges.  Chief among them are improving production and reducing costs while preserving the environment and plant safety under constrained financial and human resources.  New Asset Performance Management (APM) solutions are required that Asset Performance Management Synchronizes Operations and Maintenance with Organizational Goalsenable enterprises to balance performance, safety, sustainability, and other conflicting objectives, and achieve the best results managing current as well as preparing for new organizational challenges.

APM is a process of operating, maintaining, and modernizing physical assets throughout their lifecycle.  In order to be effective, APM must be a component of the corporate strategic plan.  The APM process involves deployment of technologies and services, and utilizes business and engineering practices to improve asset availability, utilization, and resource allocation within the organizational constraints of the enterprise.  The objective is to make fact-based decisions using reliable information that align with well-defined objectives.  An APM strategy is essential to ensure the best possible returns on capital investments over the lifecycle of the asset.

Strategies to Achieve Operational Excellence in Asset Performance Management

This session will focus on solutions that help operations and maintenance integrate disparate production and/or asset data with analytical “decision support” engines.  The output of these solutions provide real-time, KPI-based insight necessary for multi-dimensional problems such as balancing production rate, asset reliability, safety, and operational cost while minimizing damage to the environment.

Round Table Discussion for Strategies to Achieve Operational Excellence in Asset Performance Management
Meet the speakers and join four 20-minute discussions on each of the topics presented in the previous session.   Speakers will rotate around the room four times.  Each 20-minute round table will be moderated by an ARC Analyst and will feature the speaker and their supplier executive sponsor.

Improve Asset Management to Drive Reliability--An Emerson Process Management Workshop
How can you ensure your asset management systems will drive improvements in unplanned downtime, maintenance costs, and employee productivity? Emerson‘s asset performance management expertise helps ensure you attain the results you need along with the proof to show your program is making a difference. We support your projects and help drive the results you require.  Through our worldwide network of more than 150 service professionals, we will implement an asset management program to align with your management objectives. We will develop an asset criticality analysis and asset strategies so your program clearly identifies and focuses resources on your most critical assets. Emerson’s experience in process plant operations and maintenance is amplified by our expert’s deep knowledge of asset failure modes. We work with you to drive decisions that will more effectively manage and maintain your most critical production assets. The result? Improved reliability.
Remote Operations Management

Secure remote access to automation systems and applications is now a necessity.  An increasing number of process operations are also located in remote and hostile environments, such as the ocean floor or the remote desert.  Historically, because of their proximity, the focus on operating remote industrial facilities has been to maintain steady-state operations despite frequent disturbances, with operators doing whatever was required to keep the facilities running and meet production schedules in a safe and environmentally acceptable way.

Although some remote facilities still operate in this mode, the next-generation of remote facilities will not.  The economics of steady-state operations are being replaced with a dynamic economic environment in which adapting to changing supply and demand are the norm.  This session will discuss the evolution, including both technology advancements and the ability to empower humans.

Asset Performance Management Best Practices in Vertical Industries
Looking for new ideas and innovative strategies for improving your organization’s performance with best practices from another industry to enhance your business?   Or, you may see an innovation applied in your industry that can benefit your operations.  Excellence in every aspect of business is vital for growth and survival during these dynamic and diverse economic times.  This includes managing the performance of your assets.  The need to reduce costs, risk, project cycle time, and energy use remain key challenges facing every company.  In this session, you will collaborate and share ideas with your peers.

Meet the speakers and join four 20-minute discussions on each of the topics presented.  Each 20 minute round table will be moderated by an ARC Analyst and will feature the speaker and their supplier executive sponsor.
